Check these four things first

One network, start to finish
Wi-Fi that drops you onto mobile data halfway through leaves a file that looks complete but isn't. Pick one and stay there.
Android version

Old versions and battery savers
Already have an older Y1 build on the phone? Install the new one straight over it. How updates work without the Play Store
Android won't update this app for you. Install errors and what they actually mean
Android's install messages are famously unhelpful. Here's what each one usually means in practice.

If none of that shifts it, restart the phone and try the same file once more before changing anything else. A reboot clears whatever half-finished install state Android was holding on to. The file and the app aren't the same thing
Worth knowing before you start deleting things off your phone. The APK is the installer.
